Welcome to CBS and Business Administration and Service Management, also called SEM!

First and foremost, congratulations on your enrollment at SEM! We can assure you that you have some very fun times ahead!

We are excited to meet, get to know you and introduce you to CBS during the intro week. We have planned an intense (but fun) intro program, packed with both academic and social activities. Participating in the intro week not only provides you with a solid academic foundation for the coming years but also with loads of new friends! So, it´s definitely something to look forward to!

Welcome from Programme Director

Welcome to the Service Management Programme at Copenhagen Business School. I have the pleasure of being your Programme Director and I look forward to meeting you all in late August on campus.

You will spend the next three years in one of the best business schools, learning about the fascinating realm of services, the largest and fastest growing industry worldwide, including how to manage services in a wide array of contexts. From Arts and Culture over Tourism and Hospitality to Services and Innovation.

In addition to the academic aspects, you will also learn what it means to study at a university, being in an international environment, meeting news friends and expanding your network. There is a strong connection between the academic and the social aspect of studying. It is simply easier to learn if you feel at home in your study environment. Therefore, I am happy to say that BSC SEM is known as both a strong academic and social programme.

Programme for the introduction week

Activities at CBS will appear in your schedule, which you will find at calendar.cbs.dk. Please be aware that the below programme may differ slightly from calendar.cbs.dk, as it shows the room booking timeslots. It is the timeslots in the programme below that you must follow.

Activities outside CBS, e.g. social events, will not appear in your schedule, but only in the programme below.

Practical information: There is no need to bring anything except clothes good for the weather and a water bottle.

10.30 – Welcome Breakfast. We will start the first day with a welcome breakfast outside the main entrance at Dalgas Have 15, 2000 Frederiksberg. Members of the study start team will be there guiding the way if anyone gets lost! Here you will meet your new classmates and your study start guides for the intro week for the first time!
11.40-13.20 – Welcome Speech. Together with the team of guides you will re-locate to DH.C.0.33. Here SEM’s Programme Director will welcome the new students. He will introduce himself and present a PowerPoint regarding intro week rules. Furthermore, the Coordinators will give a welcoming speech, introduce all the guides, along with a PowerPoint presentation where they go through the intro week schedule.
13.30-15.10 – Concentration Coordinators Speech. After the speeches in the big auditorium, you will be divided into your specific concentration and the study start guides will take you to a new classroom.
The classrooms are:
- DH.O.0.89 (Service & Innovation)
- DH.O.0.52 (Arts & Culture)
- DH.O.0.41 (Tourism & Hospitality)
  
  The concentration coordinators will come and give a presentation for their specific concentration, following up with a Q&A. When all the mandatory activities are out of the way, you will get to know your fellow classmates better through a bunch of fun icebreaker games.
15.20-17.00 – CBS IT presentation & Introduction to your mentors. You will walk together with your new classmates and guides through Frederiksberg towards Solbjergs Plads. At Solbjerg Plads we will go to the last auditorium of the day SPs 10 KPMG. We will start with CBS IT visiting us and give a presentation (between 15.20-15.50). Then the mentors will introduce themselves and talk about the courses.
16.30 – Games and Activities in Frederiksberg Have. At the end of the day, we will walk together from Solbjerg Plads to Frederiksberg Have. We will spend the rest of the day in Frederiksberg Have doing a bunch of fun activities, games and trivia. Not something you want to miss!

Practical information: There is no need to bring anything except maybe clothes according to weather. Food will not be provided during the day (but an exciting dinner!), so fuel up beforehand or bring some lunch!

9.00 – Meet up outside Solbjerg Plads. We will meet up at Solbjerg Pl. 3, 2000 Frederiksberg, Denmark, at the main entrance right outside the library. Members of the tutor team will be there to guide you in the right direction.
9.10-11.00 Campus Tour! At 9.10 we will start the extensive campus tour, starting with Solbjerg Plads. If you are late, contact us through social media (semintro24) because we will be moving during the entire campus tour.
11.00 – Scavenger Hunt & Tutor dinner announcement. After the campus tour, we will announce which tutor’s home you will be invited to dinner with during the evening, we will also post it in our Facebook group and on our Instagram. Then we will divide you and your new classmates into teams. There will be a Scavenger Hunt around Copenhagen throughout the day, where the study start guides will be at different stations across Copenhagen. This was one of our favorite activities last year so definitely something to look forward to! At the stations you and your team of new students will have different tasks/riddles to solve/conduct to gather points. Make sure to give it your best, prizes for the top team will be given out!
15.00 – Scavenger Hunt End Destination. You and your team will meet up at the end destination: Broens Gadekøkken (Strandgade 95, 1401 København, Denmark). The exact location will be posted on social media, but all the guides will be there to ensure you find the rest of the groups. Here the winners will be announced, and you get a chance to try the great selection of food and drinks that they offer. It´s definitley a gem in CPH!
19.00 – Study start guide hosted dinners. The first dinner together will be held at one of your tutors’ homes! The location, group and theme of each tutor dinner will be announced during the day and can be found on the social media platforms Facebook and Instagram. The tutor dinner was our favourite event last year and a nice way to get to know each other better in smaller groups. We can promise a great night!

Practical information: Bring your own lunch. It is also possible to buy lunch. Bring clothes good for the weather.

9.30 – Meet up at outside Solbjerg Plads. We will meet up at the same place as the second intro day, at Solbjerg Pl. 3, 2000 Frederiksberg, Denmark. You will find the guides right outside of the main entrance, outside of the library.
9.50-11.30 – Student Hub Presentation & Introduction of first year teachers. You will walk together with your new classmates and guides to SPs10 KPMG. The day will start with a short presentation by CBS Student Hub from 10.00-10.10. Following with an introduction presentation by the mentors and the first-year teachers. By then you might have some new questions, which we will be happy to answer at the end in the form of a Q&A session.
11.30-12.35 – Lunch break. We will go together to Dalgas Have, here we eat lunch and take a break.
12.35-13.35 Q&A- Tips and tricks on life at CBS and Copenhagen. You will be divided into smaller groups and visit different “booths”. At the booths the tutors will be posted giving some tips and tricks on topics like student societies, balancing academic with social life, exchange year and how to get a job in Copenhagen. It will all be covered! We have all been in your shoes, having a million questions, and we´re here to guide you all through it.
13.40-17.00. You will be divided into your concentrations, and then you will go together with the guides to the same classrooms as you were in on the Monday:

- DH.O.0.52 (Arts & Culture)
- DH.O.0.41 (Tourism & Hospitality)
  In the classrooms we have set up an additional game to get to know each other even better! We will give you all the details about it on the spot.
17.00 – SEM Olympics . The last activity with the tutor team will take place in Kongens Have. A beautiful park in the middle of central Copenhagen. Be ready because the competitive spirit will show in some of these games!

10.00-10.30: Light breakfast with students from your programme at Solbjerg Plads
10:30-11:00: Welcome speech from CBS President Peter Møllgaard
11.00-12.00 How is Nordic Nine used in your programme?
12.00-14.00: Nordic Nine Fair + food trucks with delicious lunch
15.00-16.00: Football tournament organised by CBS Students and CBS Sports. SIGN UP HERE.
16.00-22.00: Semester start party at Solbjerg Plads

Wednesday, 14 August: Online pre-arrival seminar

Join CBS for an online seminar to help you get settled in Denmark and at CBS. You will get information and tips about registration with the authorities, housing, living in Denmark and much more.

Sunday, 25 August: Welcome event

On this day you will get essential practical, academic and cultural information to assist you in your transition to CBS and Copenhagen.

Please note that you need to sign up for both events.

Meet your study start guides

Hey there future SEM Students!

We are a group of 17 SEM students, all of whom were in your shoes not that long ago. Mixed feelings of excitement and nerves might be running through you at the moment, but we can promise you that there is nothing but fun times waiting ahead. All of us had an amazing intro week last year and have done our absolute best to arrange an even better intro week for all of you guys. Get ready for an intense week packed with fun activities, new friendships and unforgettable memories! Of course, info about the academic life at CBS will be covered as well! We can promise you that you don´t want to miss any of it!
