We’re super excited to meet you and kick off your journey in Week 35. We’ve got an awesome week planned full of fun as well as educational activities to get to know your fellow students and CBS.

Welcome from Programme Director

Welcome to the vibrant community of the CBS Business Administration and Sociology (“Soc”) program!

I’m Alfred Reckendrees, your Program Director, and it’s my absolute delight to extend a warm welcome to each of you on behalf of our dedicated academic faculty and the Study Board.

We’ve had the privilege of reviewing your applications and we’re thrilled to see such a diverse and intellectually vibrant group of students from so many corners of the globe.

We’re excited to start this educational journey with you, beginning with classes on 2nd September 2024, and we look forward to three enriching years together.

A quick heads-up: The Soc program kicks off with an introductory week from 26th – 30th August 2024. This week is packed with academic and social activities, designed by Soc students to help you get to know your peers, familiarize yourself with CBS,

and navigate your way around beautiful Copenhagen. Make sure you are there!

Trust us, it’s a lot of fun and you won’t want to miss it!

Programme for the introduction week

Activities at CBS will appear in your schedule, which you will find at calendar.cbs.dk. Please be aware that the below programme may differ slightly from calendar.cbs.dk, as it shows the room booking timeslots. It is the timeslots in the programme below that you must follow.

Activities outside CBS, e.g. social events, will not appear in your schedule, but only in the programme below.

Practical information: You can bring a towel to sit on in the morning, but you do not have to bring anything else on the first day! 

  • 8:55: You meet around Solbjerg Plads Campus (Solbjerg Plads 3, 2000 Frederiksberg) and Kilen Campus (Kilen, 2000 Frederiksberg) where your guides are ready to welcome you. If you take the metro, you must get off at Frederiksberg metro station or at Fasanvej Station. Please arrive as close to the meeting time as possible, so we can start the joint introduction on time. There are many new students and guides coming to CBS this day, so take a look at our Social Media pages before you arrive, where we will post videos of the exact location. You will find information regarding your exact meeting spot on Instagram and Facebook some days before the intro week, as we have divided you into some smaller groups to start with – so make sure to check out our social media! 
  • 9:10: Presentation of tutors and “The Name Game” 
  • 9:40: Meet another group of guides and students and get to know the guides. Here we will play “Bingo” and you can get to know your fellow students with a round of “Speed Dating”. 
  • 10:40: All new students will meet in the classroom (Ks 43). Here you will meet your fellow students and your guides, and you will get information about the days.  
  • 12:00: Lunch  
  • 12:45: There will be a presentation about CBS and our program, SOC.  
  • 13:45: Scavenger Hunt around Campus! In the afternoon, we have arranged a Scavenger Hunt, where you will get to know the Campus, as well as your fellow students. We will have different stations at the different campuses, where you will have to solve riddles or engage in fun activities together with your group.  
  • 16:00: All students and guides will meet in our classroom (Ks 43, Kilen, Kilevej 14, 2000 Frederiksberg) and you will get information regarding the rest of the day and the day after. (What to bring etc.) 
  • 16:15: Wrap up and walk to Frederiksberg Have together, to play some games and hang out. 
  • 17:00: you are free to go home and recharge your batteries.

  • 9:05: You meet in our classroom at Kilen (Ks 43), Klevej 14, 2000 Frederiksberg, and we will spend the morning with presentations about SOC Union,  about your courses for the first semester and about Student Hub. 
  • 11:30: Lunch 
  • 12:00 Copenhagen Tour! We will be spending the afternoon in our beautiful city, so you can get to know the best spots in Copenhagen, while also getting to know your fellow students even better (what a perfect combination!!). During the tour through Copenhagen, you will have to prove your teamwork skills, solve riddles and engage in fun activities with the guides and fellow students.  
  • 16:00: After the Copenhagen tour all students and guides meet up in Kongens Have, where we will wrap up and talk about the rest of the day and the rest of the week. 
  • 19:00: Meet-up for Evening Activity with your guides!

  • 9:30: All students and guides meet at Amager Strand for a BEACH DAY (Amager Strandvej 173, 2300 København S). Here we will play fun games all day. We will also eat lunch at the beach.

The Kick Off

Place and time: See your schedule for the day via CBS Calendar. Your personal timetable will be available 9 August, at the latest. You can find the guide to Calendar in an FAQ, to the left when you are logged in. Go to Calendar.

The programme for the day is as follows: 

  • 10.00-10.30: Light breakfast with students from your programme at Solbjerg Plads 
  • 10:30-11:00: Welcome speech from CBS President Peter Møllgaard 
  • 11.00-12.00 How is Nordic Nine used in your programme? 
  • 12.00-14.00: Nordic Nine Fair + food trucks with delicious lunch 
  • 15.00-16.00: Football tournament organised by CBS Students and CBS Sports. SIGN UP HERE.
  • 16.00-22.00: Semester start party at Solbjerg Plads

The Kick Off is the last day of intro and your first day as an bachelor student. Here you will get to know your fellow students better – both academically and socially –  and learn more about student life with the nine competences that run like a common thread throughout your studies at CBS. The Kick Off ends with a semester start party for all students! 

The theme for the day is Nordic Nine, which are the nine competences that are the most important skills – besides the learning from your programme – you achieve while at CBS. With Nordic Nine, CBS wants to inspire you to help solve society’s challenges with consideration for yourself, for others and for the planet. At the Nordic Nine Fair, you can talk to other students, teachers and representatives from the business world about how Nordic Nine can be used in practice and help make your education something extraordinary. 

We will provide delicious meals from food trucks and good company. If you want to play football in the afternoon, you can sign up, and otherwise you can cheer with the others before the Semester Start Celebration with live music and DJ.

Every year, right before the study start, CBS hosts two welcome events for new international students:

Wednesday, 14 August: Online pre-arrival seminar 

Join CBS for an online seminar to help you get settled in Denmark and at CBS. You will get information and tips about registration with the authorities, housing, living in Denmark and much more.

Sunday, 25 August: Welcome event 

On this day you will get essential practical, academic and cultural information to assist you in your transition to CBS and Copenhagen. 

Please note that you need to sign up for both events.

We’re a group of 10 dedicated study start guides, from different years, who have poured our hearts into planning the most amazing start to your journey in Week 35. Get ready for a week packed with exciting activities, new friendships, and unforgettable moments. We can’t wait to show you everything we have in store! 

Each of us became a study start guide because we’re truly passionate about welcoming you into the SOC family and giving you the best start for your new student life. We’ve been in your shoes, and we know how important these first steps are. 

We’re so excited to meet each and every one of you and kick off this adventure together.
