Welcome to CBS and the SOC program! 

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you all when you start your new studies after the summer. 

We have made a fun and educational program for your introduction in week 35, which we are presenting to you below. We will focus on you getting to know your fellow students and getting a proper introduction to CBS! For extra support with findings places and more details about the program make sure to follow our SOC Intro Week Instragram account which is linked below.

Welcome from Study Director

Welcome to the the CBS Business Administration and Sociology (“Soc”) program, and welcome to the Soc community.

I am Anders Sevelsted, your Study Director, and I am very pleased to extend a warm welcome to each of you on behalf of our dedicated academic faculty and the Study Board.

We have had the privilege of reviewing your applications and we are thrilled to see such a diverse and intellectually vibrant group of students from all around the world. We are excited to start this educational journey with you, beginning with classes in September 2025, and we look forward to three enriching years together.

A quick heads-up: The Soc program kicks off with an introductory week from 25th to 29th of August 2025. This week is packed with academic and social activities, designed by Soc students to help you get to know your peers, familiarize yourself with CBS, and navigate your way around beautiful Copenhagen. Make sure you are there! It will be a lot of fun, and you do not want to miss it!

As you enjoy your summer, know that we are busy preparing for your arrival. We look forward to meeting you. See you soon!

Programme for the introduction week

Activities at CBS will appear in your schedule, which you will find at calendar.cbs.dk. Please be aware that the below programme may differ slightly from calendar.cbs.dk, as it shows the room booking timeslots. It is the timeslots in the programme below that you must follow.

Activities outside CBS, e.g. social events, will not appear in your schedule, but only in the programme below.

25 August
2025

Practical Information: Please meet at Dalgas Have 15 (main entrance), 2000 Frederiksberg, at 08:30. You don’t need to bring anything with you for today. Feel free to bring your own food, but there will also be opportunities to grab some food on campus. 

  • 08:30: The meeting point is outside of the Dalgas Have main entrance, we will make ourselves visible as SOC guides for you. Students will be grouped by their assigned guide and start with some name games. 
  • 09:45: Welcome speech by CBS Deputy President Inger Askehave (10:20–10:30) and light breakfast. Address and room: Dalgas Have 15, auditorium C.0.33, 2000 Frederiksberg.
  • 10:50: Group activities outside of Dalgas Have to get to know each other.  
  • 12:00: Lunch together in small groups to chat with tutors and fellow students. You can bring your own food, but there will also be food available on campus. 
  • 13:00: Presentation about the Study Program, introduction to the Study Start Week and the SOC Union at DH.0.1.41., Dalgas Have 15, 2000 Frederiksberg.  
  • 14:15: Campus treasure hunt with students exploring different parts of the campus and engaging in fun challenges. 
  • 16:30: Wrap-up in DH room once every group has finished the campus treasure hunt. 

Tuesday,
26 August
2025

Practical Information: Breakfast will be provided and there will also be opportunities to grab lunch during the day. You don’t need to bring anything for this day, rather pack light so that you don’t have to carry a lot during the Scavenger hunt.  

  • 09:00: Presentation of the first semester courses by each of the teachers at Dalgas Have 15, 2000 Frederiksberg, room DH.0.1.41. Breakfast will be provided by the guides.
  • 11:00: Presentations about CBS Students, the Student Hub, and Student 
  • 11:40: Lunch break in small groups and introduction to scavenger hunt 
  • 13:00: Each team starts the scavenger hunt at an assigned location. It will be around the city and engaging in different challenges at set locations. 
  • 16:00: Wrap-up of the scavenger hunt at Kongens Have

2025

Practical Information: Make sure to bring your laptop today, as there will be a digital component to the activities. As before, you can bring your own food for lunch but there will be opportunities to buy some.  

  • 08:30: Presentation on “Get ready for your first day at CBS,” to introduce various digital platforms and study tools at DH.0.1.41., Dalgas Have 15, 2000 Frederiksberg
  • 10:45: CBS’s Well-being Lab. Pernille Steen Pedersen will give a presentation to new students entitled “Well-being, Ethics, and Nordic Nine”. This session offers insight into student well-being and adjustment in a new environment, as well as how to best navigate your role as a new student. Address: Ovnhallen, Porcelænshaven 20, PH20.-1.46, 2000 Frederiksberg,
  • 12:30: Lunch together in small groups to chat with tutors and fellow students. You can bring your own food, but there will also be food available on campus. 
  • 13:40: Playing traditional Danish games at Frederiksberg Have to foster teamwork. 
  • 16:30: Wrap-up of the day.

Friday, 29 August
2025

Practical Information: The event will take place at Amager Strand. You can bring your own food and please bring your own water; pizza and some drinks will be provided. None of the activities require you to go into the water but you are of course welcome to do so in the breaks or after the activities.  

  •  09:30: We meet at Amager Strand by the Beachvolley Park which is a 5-minute walk from the Amager Strand metro station.  
  • 10:00: The games begin with teams rotating between stations, during breaks beverages will be provided. 
  • 12:00: Game wrap-up followed by pizza lunch. 
  • 12:35: Announcement of the top 3 teams and the winner, followed by a group photo to close the day. 
  • 12:50: Final wrap-up of the intro week. Students are welcome to stay and hand out at Amager Strand longer.

Wednesday, 13 August: Online pre-arrival seminar 

Join CBS for an online seminar to help you get settled in Denmark and at CBS. You will get information and tips about registration with the authorities, housing, living in Denmark and much more.

Sunday, 24 August: Welcome event 

On this day you will get essential practical, academic and cultural information to assist you in your transition to CBS and Copenhagen.

Meet your study start guides

We are a team of 11 dedicated study start guides from different nationalities, including Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, and German, all in our second year of studies. We’ve worked hard to plan an unforgettable start to your student life here at CBS, and we’re excited to welcome you in week 35! 

Each one of us is passionate about helping you feel at home, get to know your new surroundings, and ensure you have all the support you need as you begin your academic journey. Whether it’s answering your questions, showing you around campus, or just having fun together, we’re here to make sure your study start is a memorable one.
